Check in and check out a rule application​

To begin modifying a rule application, it must first be checked out.

Workflow and rules behavior​

When a user checks out a rule application in irAuthor Web, only the user who has checked out that rule application can edit it in irAuthor Web.

Users will not be able to edit in irAuthor Desktop/Author Studio when the rule application is checked out in irAuthor Web.

When a user checks out a rule application in irAuthor Desktop, only that user can edit that rule application in irAuthor Desktop. Editing that application will not be possible in irAuthor Web while it remains checked out in irAuthor Desktop.

The rule application will remain checked out until Check In or Undo Check Out occurs.

The user initiating the check out is the only user who can Check In or Undo Check Out in the rule application.

The process, once initiated in irAuthor Web, must be completed in irAuthor Web.

Check in​

The check-in process saves all changes made in a new revision of the rule application.

You can optionally add a comment when checking in to describe and track the changes made in this version.

Currently, check-in comments can be seen in irAuthor and Web Catalog Manager.

To check in a rule application​

  1. Click on Check In.
  1. Optionally add a comment to describe and track the changes made in this version.
  1. Click on Check In again to finish checking in the rule application.

Undo check out​

Undo Check Out discards any changes made within the rule application since the time it was checked out.

Once Undo Check Out is activated, the rule application must be checked out again if the user wants to make further modifications.

To undo check out​

  1. Select the arrow next to Check In and click on Undo Check Out.
  1. Confirm by clicking Undo Check Out.
